Tucked within the same historic 1930s building, this intimate hideaway takes its name from the proud rooster—an enduring symbol of bold spirit and lively hospitality.

THE ART OF THE GALLO ROOM
Meet “Little Jerry”—the story behind Peter Vey’s King of Key West
For years, Taylor and Shannon Cameron knew this colorful rooster by a different name: Little Jerry—a nickname inspired by the unforgettable Seinfeld episode featuring Kramer’s beloved rooster. Only recently did they discover the painting’s official title, King of Key West.
The Camerons discovered artist Peter Vey by chance while visiting Florida in the early 2000s and were immediately drawn to his bold colors and richly textured palette knife technique. The painting traveled with them from Maryland to Delaware before eventually making its way to Key West, where they hoped it would find a new home.
Then inspiration struck. After reading about the story behind The Gallo Room, Taylor realized the proud rooster might have been destined for Lewes all along. Today, on long-term loan from the Camerons, King of Key West welcomes guests with a colorful nod to the Gallo family and the room’s namesake.

The Gallo Room is open 7 days a week. We’re first come, first served — walk-in only.
Hours:
Sunday-Thursday: 5 PM – 10 PM
Friday & Saturday: 4 PM – 11 PM
