Nancy grew up in Riverdale, Maryland, just outside Washington, D.C. After building a career with Giant Food, she spotted a sign announcing a new store coming to Rehoboth Beach. Inspired by the chance to raise her two children near the beach, she made the move to Delaware and has been part of the community ever since. Today, Nancy is celebrating 40 years with Giant Food while also bringing her love of hospitality to Lewes Oyster House.

While working at a local liquor store next to Fork & Flask, Nancy was asked by Chef Sean Corea to step in and help host a busy Easter Sunday service. The experience reminded her how much she loved welcoming guests and eventually led her to Lewes Oyster House in 2022. Today, Nancy brings warmth, care, and a personal touch to every visit.

For Nancy, hospitality starts the moment a guest walks through the door.

“My favorite thing here at Lewes Oyster House is when the door opens. I feel like people are walking into a fantastic dinner party.”

She loves creating an atmosphere where guests feel welcomed from the start. The food, the service, the energy, and the people all come together to create an experience that feels special.

“The vibe is set. The food is delicious. The service is so good. The people I work with are top-notch, and all the best people are in this building—coworkers and guests.”

Nancy is quick to credit the team around her, including Chefs Sean Corea and Sean G., Tom, Tim, and the entire Lewes Oyster House team for creating the experience guests know and love.

For Nancy, genuine hospitality is about more than a reservation. It’s about building relationships.

She remembers the details that make each guest feel known—from favorite tables and special occasions to the little moments shared during a visit. She also pays close attention to what guests share with her, using every experience as a chance to better understand what matters most and create an even better visit the next time they walk through the door.

“It’s one thing to make a reservation, feed the people, and fulfill the reservation. The other thing is making the connection.”

When Nancy isn’t welcoming guests at Lewes Oyster House, you’ll likely find her with her toes in the sand, soaking up the sunshine, or traveling with her two children, Robert and Scarlett. Both followed Nancy into hospitality, and together they share a love of exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and creating memories along the way.

Her favorite bites at Lewes Oyster House? She loves our chunky, salty oysters and admits she craves the burger so much that she enjoys it at least once a week.
